I had to draw aside to see the serpent eat its tail

Her mouth is red and her breasts are fair
and her loins are full of fire,
And her lust is strong as a man is strong
in the heat of her desire,

And her whoredom is holy as virtue is foul
beneath the holy sky,
And her kisses will wanton the world away
in passion that shall not die.

Ye shall laugh and love and follow her dance
when the wrath of God is gone
And dream no more of hell and hate
in the Birth of BABALON.

A poem of invocation

Je'taime moi non plus

Saw Gainbourg yesterday at The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill. I loved the movie, I love the music and I adore Serge ( I have always had a passion for promiscuous alcoholics). I am reminded of a story my friend told me about meeting Jane Birkin (overratted in my opinion - like some 1960's Patsty Kensit type ) anyway she was at some perfume launch where Jane having got to an age where having more children with wealthy men  was out of the question had decided to collude with  Miller Harris to 'create' a cats piss cologne. So my friend spots Jane and runs over really excited and then kind of freezes at her feet since she is not sure what to say. ' I love Serge' is what came out of her mouth and Jane looked at her like she was fucking nuts (she is) and said 'So did I' and walked away.

See Emily Play

I have always been interested in rock stars of the late 60’s and 70s and even more fascinated by the women who slept with them. I found this amazing website dedicated to a woman named ‘Iggy the Inuit’ a girlfriend of Syd Barrett.

I’ll protect you from the truth; you’ll never hear it from me...

I adore Courtney Love and I am going to see HOLE tomorrow at Brixton academy. Finally I am excited!

So what happens now ......

Since my last teaching contract ended (thank fuck) I ricochet between joy that I don’t have to be in that hell hole anymore and terror that I will never ever have any money again. This confliction is reflected in my erratic spending patterns. Yesterday I spent £34 on Diptyque , £300 on Botox, £50 on Clinique and £10 in Laduree. Today I just ate a hideous microwave curry from the fridge as it was near its sell by date and I am feeling too cheap to throw its £1.99 ass in the bin.

Thy will be done .........

At the age of 6 I was given an LP record of The Singing Nun by a friend of my mothers named Ruth. Although I didn't realise at the time I guess Ruth was a radical left wing lesbian, she had short dark hair, was vegetarian in 1971 and collected ethnic musical instruments from around the world. All the signs were there but I didn't click till just now! My mother, who's own life would have been vastly improved by a Saphic shift used to take me to visit this woman who lived at the top of Albrighton Road. At Ruths house dinner was made from ingredients and recipes at our house dinner came from adding water to sachets and opening cans. I played my album over and over for a short time trilling along in a language I didn't understand. Of course when I raised the issue of me becoming a nun of the singing variety over a Fry Bentos dinner with my grandparents back home I received little by way of encouragment.

Such a comfort

My mother just told me two things ‘you are never happy unless you have something to worry about’ and ‘smarten yourself up’. Nothing unusual about mothers making tactless and irritating comments except this, mine died in 1986. If you feel the need to be criticised by the immortal nit picking undead then head to The Spiritualist Church, 13 Pembridge Place W2 Wednesdays at 7.30. The whole experience was quite traumatising, I had to run home fast to press icecubes against my heart lest it defrosted entirely but I will be going back next week to see if she gives me the lottery numbers (dressed smart!)

Goodbye to love

A friend just emailed to ask what was my favourite ‘rock death’, he is thrilled that the enquiry into the ‘drowning’ of Brian Jones is likely to be reopened. In answer to the question, my favourite rock death is the suicide of Andrea Feldman a Warhol superstar. According to Bob Colacello ‘Andrea had first come to the attention of the Factory in 1967, in the back room of Max's Kansas City, by sitting on a coke bottle and belting out Everything's Coming up Roses. She called her act a porno parody of Ethel Mermans 'Showtime'.... Her exhibitionism was extreme, even by Superstar standards...’ On the 8th of August 1972 Andrea summoned a number of X boyfriends including the writer Jim Carroll to meet her at the entrance to her 5th Avenue apartment. Clutching a rosary and a coke she jumped to her death in front of them all. If ever a gesture said 'fuck you' I think that was it.

And so you're back

I am really excited my favourite model Irina is back from an extended vacation YES YES YES and is rumoured to be expected at the 'go sees' for the up coming New York fashion week.

The best is yet to come

I think I have hit early menopause, either that or I forgot to turn off my electric blanket. Excitingly Fay Weldon said that she wrote all her best books on HRT.

Woman of the hour

Loving all the scandal about French Justice Minister Rachida Dati’s decision to return to work a few days after having given birth to her daughter. I think that it’s amazing that she had her first child at 43 – women who have it their own way are an inspiration. I love her looks as well – she is reminds me of Beatrice Dalle , the heroine of my teen angst which is ongoing. I am guilty of a double standard I must confess – while I feel disgusted at the site of the pathetic ever pregnant Victoria Beckham squishing her still bloodied lipoed body into tiny jeans 10 minutes after giving birth somehow I don’t mind that Rachida has managed to do the same thing. The difference is I think that Rachida is a smart educated woman who serves a purpose and VB is a pointless anorexic with more money than sense. Also I like what appears to be an unsentimental approach to motherhood – not every woman who gives birth has to become a complete bore though many do. I had lunch in Westbourne Grove today and this vile woman was breast feeding her baby at the table next to us. Hideous – that’s one woman’s right they can take back. She was dining with 3 men as well - the epidural had obviously permanently numbed her dignity as well as she concern for aesthetics and other people. My friend took one look and commented in horror ‘ Rachida Dati would never do that!’

End of an era

Betty Page dies of a heart attack at 85. The finest pinup girl ever to pose has gone to the great centre fold in the sky.

Before and after

Just reading up on the Red Army Faction post movie and I came across this incredible article. As well as suggesting that the 'organised suicide' of the three imprisoned members of the group in Stammheim the top security jail where they were being held and tried was infact state authorised murder the author Richard Huffman discusses the following discovery.
'Late in 2002 it was discovered that Dr. Bernhard Bogerts, a psychiatrist from at the University of Madgeburg, had been keeping Ulrike Meinhof’s brain in a jar in the corner of his office. Bogerts had been studying the brain off and on for five years trying to determine why a young, well-off, successful mother of two would throw away all vestiges of her happy life and sink into a morass of violence.' The Gun Speaks The Baader-Meinhof at the Dawn of Terror

A good idea poorly executed

Baader –Mienhof Complex :This movie was so good I can’t remember if it was subtitled or not. Very interesting story about the group of activists in 1970’s Germany who spearheaded a revolutionary movement against all manner of political injustice. As with many revolutions it did go tits up pretty early on . Incredible food for thought though – I think we should all protest a little bit more. Click here to see the trailer. I have always been interested in women who get caught up in this kind of thing, Patti Hurst, the Manson women and so on – there is a moment in the movie where Ulrike Mienhof crosses the line and joins the RAF (not that RAF) and although part of me just wanted her to walk away I could really see why she chose to take her chances.

The lovely Miss Lazareanu

Divine Irina was no where to be seen in New York, London and Milan. Her agent was overheard telling the people at Chanel ‘I don’t know where she is, call her yourself’. I knew she’d show up in Paris, drugs are expensive after all. She did of course for Rick Owens and Yamamoto. But for the men and narcotics Irina has excellent taste.

You just can't keep a good woman down

Well you can actually especially if you get them addicted to Crystal Meth. Perhaps this post should be entitled ‘you can’t keep a bad woman quiet’. I am just desperate to see this new HBO documentary Heidi Fleiss: The Would-Be Madam of Crystal. The 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival – Official Selection documentary looks at what happened to Heidi once she completed 21 months of a 37 month jail sentence for pandering and tax evasion. Once at the top of her game providing $10,000.00 dates for the Hollywood elite, a radically downsized Heidi is now living in Nevada where brothels are legal working on her new projects, a brothel for women (with men in it methinks) and a laundromat called ‘Dirty Laundry’. If this woman gets off drugs she could run for office but by the look of things that won’t be anytime soon.

Women who love too much: Part 1

Marla Singer - chain smoking, suicidal, self help group addict, owner of nothing, wearer of vintage, lover of Tyler Durden. Helena Bonham Carters finest acting role although the best of her lines, ‘ I wanna have your abortion ‘ after shagging the Brad Pitt Tyler was changed to the less punchy, ‘ I haven’t been fucked like that since grade school ‘.

In death at last she sleeps alone

Said of Morgan le Fay upon her demise in the legend of Merlin and King Arthur. I love the story with all the Witches and their doomed magical children . I just watched the made for TV movie Merlin which is wonderful. The legend pretty much goes like this – Queen Mab makes Merlin who turns out to be good, she wants a pagan king - Merlin being a bore, wants a Christian king. Merlin contrives to make a good heir to the throne. Mab makes a bad one, born of the ever lovely Morgan. Bit of distraction re – Excalibur every one dies – typically mediocrity prevails. I might even go to Avalon at the weekend if it stops raining.
